I’m available for select appearances at schools, libraries, bookstores, and other events depending on my schedule. If you’d like me to speak at an event you’re organizing and the information below on my rates and travel works with your budget, please contact me.
Also — I love taking part in conferences, conventions, festivals and the like. For those invitations, please reach out to my publicist, Siena Koncsol. And for a list of upcoming appearances, visit Events.
For school and public library events in the Washington, D.C., area, my rate is $150/hour for sessions including a talk about my books and writing as well as a Q&A. Events where the attendees have read one or more of my books are the most successful.
For school events involving multiple presentations, and for events outside of the D.C. area, my rate is $350/day for up to 3 sessions in a day and $600/day for 4 sessions in a day or more. Events outside the D.C. area will also include travel and hotel costs.
I’m happy to Skype or Google Hangout with school or library groups. My Skype/Google Hangout rate is $50 for a 30-minute session including an introduction and Q&A. Starting in 2017, I request that the $50 be given as a donation to the Trevor Project, rather than being paid to me directly. Please email me confirmation of the donation before the event begins.
I live in Washington, D.C., and I take public transportation pretty much everywhere. For events that are accessible via the D.C. area metro system, there’s no charge for travel.
For events outside the D.C. area, travel (via plane or Amtrak, plus ground transportation) and hotel costs would be added to the session rates.
Events that require driving are difficult for me to pull off. But feel free to contact me and we’ll see if we can work something out.
